Along the infamous Bernauer Straße
For almost 30 years, the Berlin wall cut through the hearts of neighborhoods and the lives of the people of Berlin. We begin at the Nord Bahnhof, one of the so called “haunted stations”, where heavily armed border soldiers made sure no one tried to escape through the tunnels of the transit system.
The Bernauer straße is one of the most well documented and eventful sections of the Wall. This is where the Berlin Wall Memorial, with one of the few remaining intact portions of the Wall and a watch tower, spreads over an area of over 1.5km
Equipped with lots of background information our guides concentrate on the personal stories and destinies: people who leaped out of their windows into another system, heroes and amateur tunnel diggers, demolished churches-all this and more you will experience on our Wall Tour!
